In the interest of safety for any level of riders, I believe the trails that feature the black soil should be close after precipitation. A bit of honesty wouldn't go amiss from old mate at the kiosk either. Not surprising I was the only fool out there that day... Trails are good here and well worth a visit as long as it has been dry!

Great trails with varying difficulty. New trails are being added regularly. Just needs to be a bit closer to Brisbane!

Omg. Can’t remember the last time I had so much fun and as our first real mountain bike trail adventure, certainly the place to get us HOOKED! Will totally be back!

I went here recently after 10mm rainfall the previous night. Bright and early, I was pleased thinking I'd have the place to myself for a bit of fun on the wet/muddy trails. The guy taking the entrance-fee told me (quote) he didn't know how the trails would be so I was keen to get amongst it! However, probably best to avoid if there has been any rain for your own safety/sanity. There is a type of dirt on certain trails here, such as Grinder and Epic (but not limited to), that is known to the local's as black soil. When this dirt gets damp it will stick to your tyres like shit to a blanket. After about 2 minutes the tyres will not go through the frame/fork/swingarm at all. This will render your bicycle unrideable and extremely heavy. You will be unable to push the bike so you will be dragging it and your shoes will weigh about 10kg each, thick with mud. This soil turns into a clay-like substance and will set like concrete. If you are 10km from the retreat, you will have a long hard slog ahead of you. I genuinely thought I was going to be forced to abandon my bicycle. After 4 hours out there (only 2 riding) I finally made it back to the car, pretty ticked off.
